I’m trying to find a town in New England to rent a house on a sandy (not rocky) beach, for a couple weeks this summer for my family. Preferably a town with at least some fine dining or night life, but still have the typical New England feel. I’ve never been before, so I’m pretty much going by Hollywood’s portrayal of New England towns…

You would want Falmouth, Chatham, Orleans, Sandwich, Yarmouth and Dennis (all on the Cape)
anything on Marhta’s Vineyard and Nantucket
Westport MA
Narragansett RI

Hoping to find either a condo complex or private home rental in the area for our honeymoon. If it’s a condo, we would prefer something not too huge. Any site suggestions or specifics on places that would be within walking distance of food/entertainment? We would honestly rather not mess with car rentals since this is a short trip and we’re planning to just have a lot of quality private time together.

You may want to stay on Sandestin if you do not want to rent a car or somewhere in the heart of Destin, maybe Silver Shells. If you do stay on Sandestin everything on the beach is a high-rise. If you want something smaller there are some nice town-homes called Tivoli that you should consider. If you stay downtown pretty much everything that has dining and other activities on site will be in a high-rise. for our afterprom we might rent out a beach house at seaside heights, nj using lazy river rentals. I’ve seen mixed reviews, but if anyone has actually used "lazy river by the sea," is it safe? do they allow drinking or are the houses actually under surveillance? and we were planning on bringing 18 kids to what is supposedly a four bedroom house. will we get in trouble by police, etc.? and do the neighbors actually report kids in the houses?

Don’t know whether it’s legit or not, but they won’t be renting to a bunch of high school kids if it is. No owner is going to want a bunch of out-of-control, drunk kids destroying their property. Such rentals usually have a minimum rental period of one week – or at least an entire weekend – and they also usually have a minimum rental age of 25. And, you can only have as many people there as there are sleeping spots.

I’m sure the neighbors would report rowdy kids to the police.

im looking for a rental for the 25th through the 27th of this month. 3 bedrooms that sleeps 4 or 5. pets would be nice but not a must, we can leave them home. also beach Access is a absolute.. about 100 to 175 a night, in southern oregon.

We”ve been to Litchfield in Pawley’s Island … which I love, but looking to spend a week somewhere else. I’ve never been to Kiawah (sp?) or Hilton Head — and don’t know which areas or communities we should consider.

We’re planning a trip in August. Want a condo or small house – access to beach, pool, bicycle riding. Things that would appeal to my teenaged daughter – but not real keen on honky tonk of Myrtle Beach.

We welcome suggestions.

I have 2 young kids and we have spent last few summers vacations at N. Myrtle Beach. It is mostly families there, about 5 miles from the crazy "ness" you talked about in Myrtle Beach and yet can go visit there one night. There is plenty to do around in N. Myrtle Beach. We have stayed 3 times at Kingston Plantation which I would highly recommend. Also haven’t tried but looks nice is Ocean Creek Resort. Hope this helps you out!
