I checked the internet researches with some tools, and the most searched was: 1) Dreams Resort, 2) Melia 3) Holiday Inn.
The dreams is 10 minutes south to Vallarta and allways well visited, also when others are looking for guests !!!
They have a private beach only for guests. The Melia I dont know, but it is highly recommended. The Holiday Inn actually isnt so interesting, because on one side they are building a new hotel, and it is not really quite.
What I heard very often during the last year was the Crown paradise group. They have offers for families, but also for adults only. It is close to the marina.
There are various 5star hotels in Nuevo Vallarta, but this is about 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta.
Britney Spears visited last weekend the Four seasons at punta de mita, 45 minutes north of Vallarta.

If it’s the beach itself that you want, the best beaches are at Nuevo Vallarta, about 20 miles north of P.V. Also, Mismaloya is a great beach, but very popular. All beaches in Mx are public, so there is no such thing as a private beach, but some, like at Dreams, are not very accessible to the general public. There are several good resorts and everyone has their opinion. I stayed at the Riu Jalisco and had a great time! They offered tours, snorkeling, parasailing, shopping, whale watching and other adventures. You just sign up… it’s that easy! They have great restaurants and a nightclub too. The rooms are nice and clean and the service is great.
