How can i make my room modern and beach themed?

I am moving rooms so i get to re-design it. I was thinking modern/beachy. Opinions? Help?

I’m doing the same thing right now and found an awesome example on HGTV’s Rate My Space:

The colors remind me of sand and the ocean, but still stay fairly contemporary. Modern is hard to do because it is more about minimalism.

I pretty much copied this idea and it was cheap to do. I also added coral pieces (cheap on eBay) and put a hurricane lamp full of sand and rocks from my favorite beach. Good luck!
