Depends on which room it is…

For a bathroom, I found these cute accessories, fixtures and cabinet hardware: http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?itemId=16017
You can also pick up shells on the beach, clean them out well (soak them in water for a few days) and super glue them around your bathroom mirror to create a "beachy" border.

For a kids’ room, paint a mural on the wall. They sell "paint by number" mural kits and it’s easier to do than you would think. I have painted several murals in my daughter’s room and they turn out great and are very original.

For an adult bedroom, I would get a ceiling fan with the blades shaped like palms, white flowy curtains that look like clouds and some pale blue paint for the walls. Get some decor that is beachy (i.e. a vase filled with shells) and some beach artwork.

You can fill apothecary jars with shells.

Try homegoods, they have an entire nautical accents section in their stores!

I would try looking at local thrift stores for "beachy" items. Also ebay is a great place to start. Also, going to a beach to look for shells and such is a great idea. Maybe… if you filled up ,like a vase or something, with sand & have bits of shell in the vase would look kind-a cool. Honestly, I would look around stores and online for items you enjoy.

Lighthouses, Thomas Kinkade pictures, any tropical fish, sea shells decorations. Floral designs with tropical flowers.
Ebay sells a lot of nautical items. Type in nautical, beach theme, and see what interest you.

Is this a beach house or are you seeking to suggest the beach? If it is a beach house you can go more over the top than I would suggest in an urban apartment. Think aged white furniture, billowy, casual curtains, soft furniture that is not overly matched, books, casual woven area rugs, and twill slip covers. Shells in glass are always good accents, as are large shells. If you are into water sports use the toys, such as skies, wakeboards and surf boards as decorative items. Hang them on the walls. Vintage toys are particularly cool. Please avoid fake boats as coffee tables and such, they are right up there with the talking plastic fish in taste. Go for real items, not items made for decorative purposes – the effect will be much more satisfying. Have fun!
