What is the best way to request a hotel room upgrade at the beach?

For example, what would be a good way to get a room with a better view without having to spend the extra cash?

If you ask in advance you will get the normal "thank you for enquiring, the costs will be …. etc etc" A hotel will not give away a premium room in advance if there is still a chance of selling it at the premium price

Go there, at the time of check in, be nice, chat with them a bit, ask if the hotel is fully occupied, could you be "cheeky and ask if you could be considered for an upgrade"- if you have a special reason such as a honeymoon, anniversary etc then this often helps

Admittedly it depends on the mood of the reception desk person, and also if she is in a position of responsibility to make that decision or not….. but it’s always worth asking.

They see so many people who demand because "I am a customer and the customer is always right" that being friendly, approachable and sweet is a breath of fresh air I can tell you!

    Like anything else.

First, be lucky that you come to deal with an attendant that is not in a bad mood.

And if one is available, the best way would be to ask for it, in a nice way, without being demanding and pushy.
